New puppy question

Son brought home a puppy yesterday. Catahoula/ pit mix. Cute dog. Shots, fixed. Question is, should this puppy be so lethargic? All she does is lay around and sleep. I figured a puppy would be more energetic, especially this breed. My son Got the pup from a vet where his friend works. Said the vet checked her out and looks good.

What say you? Give her a few days?

All dogs have different personalities. Some are a lot more laid back than others. May take her a day or so to get used to her new home too. I bet she gets more active pretty soon.

I would think that it should be playing pretty hard....then crash just as hard.

At 8-10 weeks, it should only be playing in very short intervals and then sleeping and eating. That’s just a baby. When I raised pups, I wouldn’t even let them be picked up by the buyer until 12weeks.

You have any pictures? A purebred catahoula is a high prey drive, high energy, hard headed dog....but the vast majority of unregidtered catahoulas are not catahoulas. They are just medium sized spotted dogs.

Totally normal. I was concerned with my first pup sleeping all day too. My brother (vet) assured me it was perfectly normal.

More like give her a few weeks. A human baby can't even hold its head up until it's 4 months old. Can't expect too much from the pup yet.

I have a 13 week old puppy - her energy is completely different now compared to when she was 8-11 weeks old.
