    Gonna build a trailer...

I know I want a 24' flat deck trailer with drive over fenders and pull out ramps. Do I go with an 8" C channel, bumper pull tongue or go with an 8" C Channel Gooseneck trailer?

Bumper pull could be pulled by a dump truck or other vehicle.

Gooseneck could only be pulled by a truck with a GN hitch.

I'm going to put 2 - 7K axles underneath it so I will only be hauling small tractors, hay (some round and mostly squares), construction, fencing materials, etc. Basically, I have outgrown a 14' bumper pull car hauler and need something bigger.

    Thoughts?

I don’t have a dump truck. Go with the gooseneck.

I absolutely love my 24’ bumper pull.

29’6” tip to tip. Has tandem 7,500lb axels with springs on top of axels for better clearance through the mountains to the ranch. We load it down and pull it 400 miles one way to fill feeders and hunt 7x a year and she pulls like a champ. Usually have a UTV, ATV, and 5K worth of protein on her plus gear. I love the bumper pull so I can utilize all the space in my bed.

I would check out PJ Trailers and Big Tex, find the style you like and see what material they use. I have a 20' GN similar to what you want. I used 10" channel for the drive over fenders and I extended the bed to same width in front and back of fenders and put a tiedown rail using 3" 3/8" flatbar. I used a 10k drop leg jack. One thing I would do over is go with a sealed wiring harness and go all LED flush mount lights. If your in north Texas I would check with a trailer MFG in that area and Oklahoma. It might be cheaper to buy than build. For my 20' GN I used CM trailers out of Ennis Tx, they were cheaper than building. I also would look at putting 14ply load range G tires.

Personally, I’d go with a gooseneck. Pulls way better than a bumper pull, turns better too. You can still put stuff in the bed of the truck, especially if you have a longbed, just gotta be better at making it fit than when you’re pulling a bumper pull

We about to head west to Terrell Co. 5K lbs of Feed, a Mule, quad, and 2 quad trailers. All hooked to my 2500 short bed and empty bed for ice chests and toolboxes. Goosenecks are great, don’t get me wrong, but it can be done just fine with a bumper pull.

A bumper pull will give you a gvwr of 14,000 lbs but a gooseneck will give you a gvwr of 15,900 because of configuration. Not sure how you are going to register it?

I had a trailer with drive over fenders I load hay with a grapple. It was horrible. I sold it and got a Big tex flat bed Gooseneck...
