    Looking for advice on Austin

A job opportunity in NW Austin has come up. I really don't know much about the area and trying to get as much information as possible. If any of you are familiar with the area and can give me an idea of areas to possibly check out, I would appreciate it.

From a very preliminary search, real estate seems to be quite a bit higher than in my part of Fort Worth. Looking for reasonably priced neighborhoods on the outskirts of Austin with decent schools.

Google shows Cedar Park and Leander should be short enough commutes. Any thoughts on those two areas or others to check out?

Look into Round Rock and Georgetown.

I commute and live in Georgetown. We made the choice because of schools. Nothing wrong with Leander, Cedar Park, or Liberty Hill we just preferred Georgetown schools. Matter of fact it was not just Georgetown schools it was a certain elementary and middle school that wife wanted.

I work in NW Austin. Jollyville RD and Braker Ln area. I would look at the area near Cypress Creek rd. (Cypress Mill, Cypress Mill, Twin Creek, Anderson Mill West). Leander ISD and elementary, jr high an high school are close. My kids are in Leander ISD and I have no complaints. Property values here will go up when Apple's new campus is built (5 miles or so away).

We moved to that area to be closer to my job, but we chose Liberty Hill because they are a very highly rated ISD.

Georgetown, Leander, Cedar Park and Round Rock are all good areas. Each are a little different and have their own pros/cons. If the school districts are your #1 priority IMO opinion they rank Leander, RR, Georgetown, Liberty Hill. It's hard to go wrong with any of them though.

Check neighborhoods close to where you work. Traffic during rush hours can be horrendous.

I live by the Arboretum. If you can’t live south of where you work and go against traffic, rush hour is going to take a long time for you. 183 south can be bumper to bumper by six am and northbound by 4pm.

NW Hills and Cat Mountain are beautiful neighborhoods.

Georgetown is great. Walburg/Weir is east and less expensive than west. Easy access to 35 and 130 Toll.

Your job is NW austin...where bouts?

I live between Leander & liberty Hill. I am in Leander ISD but my son goes to Liberty Hill high school. Liberty Hill is a nice area.

I would look North or NW of your job. Traffic in Austin is horrific...mainly due to lack of roads.
