Anyone feed pork to your dog?

Got to thinking I have 2 pigs in freezer that I was going to make into sausage but now I'm thinking of boiling em up in the pot outside and freezing the meat to feed my lacy over the next few months-
Anyone ever done this? I'd mix it with her dry food of course but it would save me alot of $ in wet food

I have fed raw for 11-12 years. I have feed deer , Aoudad , duck , and a bunch of other exotics. I won’t feed wild hogs. Chicken is my base . .57 cents a pound. 10lbs bags from Walmart. You will love switching to chicken.

I feed wild hog to my lacy routinely. I also give him uncooked wild game meat and bones. Matter of fact, he had cooked boar ham for breakfast this morning. Good enough for human, good enough for a dog!

is it raw chicken? isnt that just as bad as raw pork?

You got me thinking. I could save alot of money feeding my dogs wild pork meat. I would prob brown up 5lbs a week and cut it with their victor dog food

I wouldn’t cook it. Just run it through grinder with anything else that bleeds and feed your dog. It is what they are designed to eat. Fish ducks chicken pork deer - you name it. Just grind and freeze. They don’t eat much of it like they do dog food

There is a guy on another forum who kills 40-50 hogs a season. He feeds his dogs a lot of hog meat

Has to be cooked though bc they definitely can be infected by the same parasite that cause trichinosis so raw is NOT an option
Looks like I'm gonna start the cooker up!

I've read where mixing the raw meat with kibbled dog food is about the best combo for their overall heath and helps lengthen the time between food purchases. Plenty of free hog meat out there, might as well use it for a good purpose.

My dogs get it... ground and browned with their dry food. They love it.

Sorry to piggyback but this has got me thinking of trying the raw diet. I cannot figure out what my pup is allergic to. For the last year, we've been swapping food (protein source) every 6-8 weeks. Vegetarian, grain-free, etc but she still scratches to the point of hurting herself.

I used to, but it nearly killed him. I finally got him tested for allergies and he's extremely allergic to pork and chicken. Feed him lean ground beef and hypoallergenic dry food now and he's a much happier boy. Poor little feller is diabetic too

Benadryl twice a day for this! Morning and night in a bit of peanut butter. My bird dog has itchy skin issues and its just allergies from the grasses. Normal over the counter pink generic bottle. My wife is a vet and she cleared up his mess of skin issues with that and low level steroid that you can get from your vet.
