This is the best of only 2 pics I got of this guy this season. Just for fun, how old.

Man I can sure appreciate how you guys can age a deer visually. I don't have a clue how to so so other than looking at it's nose to see if it's droopy and rounded and then look to see if he's got a pot belly. I'd have guessed that deer was 5 or 6 years old, maybe older. Either way with a rack like that I'd think getting him out of the gene pool at my estimated age would be good for the rest of the herd.

Well you guessed correctly! I actually shot this deer 2 seasons ago with my bow. He was 3-4 at the time and was a big 6 point. The shot was slightly quartering away. He dropped and turned at the shot and the arrow went right through the back strap missing any bone. I haven’t been able to get on him until last week.
Deer really haven’t been hitting feeders much this season. I have beef seeing quite a few deer grazing on winter weeds in a field on our place. That’s where I finally caught up with him one evening just before dark. I closed the distance to 230 yards and took him down with my 7mm-08.

This bucks neck joins his brisket in a smooth transition, he's got the beginnings of a belly, and at the point that pic was taken, he was getting ready to open up a can of whoop-azz.
Exactly!
