Fall Food Plot - Top Dressing?

Does anyone top dress nitrogen fertilizer in late winter (December/January) to help increase protein levels and ensure there’s enough N in the soil for spring green-up? Also, should we only fertilize N fertilizer just before rain? Just curious if N fertilizer would burn the field if we spread it out and didn’t get any rain. Unfortunately, the weather man is rarely right. Thanks for the input!

We fertilized 150lbs/acre of 16-20-0 at the time of planting. It was on top of the soil and we got 2in of rain the next morning so hopefully it’s still in the soil.

    What did you plant?

If it is oats or wheat won't do anygood now to put more fertilizer it is too cold you need to wait until it starts warming back up. That is when the plant will start growing. Prolly March.

I would save your money and spend it on planting a spring summer crop. Lab lab or something like that.

We will definitely try something this spring/summer. We are thinking of planting Turner Seed’s Spring Deer Mix.

Yes. Typically in late February or March.
