    Wind issue...

Opinion on high wind Thursday and Friday, in South Texas. How will it affect game activity?

If they are in full rut like I think they will be it could still be awesome. If not, they’re gonna be skittish as all get out.

They are going to lay up for the most part.

from my experience, they will generally lay up in high winds, up to a point. Once the wind gets up over 25 mph or so, they will get up and move around. Somewhere around this wind speed, they get nervous that they will not be able to hear any possible predators, so they will head to where they can use their sight and smell to better protect themselves.

I have seen this where they all move to a big open area. It is almost like they "circle the wagons" as they rely on each other to watch in different directions.

High winds in the rut is awesome. They catch a whiff and will come from everywhere

I'll probably get blown out the stand but I'm about to go sit for the evening.

Saw a decent 8 this morning I'd like to get another peek at.

I’m counting on there not being much movement until winds die down late in the Friday evening hunt. After that, the weather looks awesome. I’m really looking forward to hunting this weekend.

Compensating for the effect a 25 mph crosswind has on arrow flight might be a bit challenging as well. Looks like the will will die and conditions will be great Saturday and Sunday

Gust caught my stand door just right and blew it off the hinges as I was getting in.

Sucks cuz now I dont have a wind blocker but deer are moving like crazy so I'll survive

During Thanksgiving week, I was seeing deer early, late and during the middle of the day on those misty dark, still days, but when that front blew in and the wind started to howl... I saw practically nothing... didn't even see any javelina!! Don't think the animals like that cuttin' north wind any better than we do..

Blowing 35 gusts to 45 right now in old Mexico.... makes it interesting in a tower blind.

It will be less than if winds were light.

Had that happen to me. Pick it up and prop it up inside the blind with the heater, cooler or back your chair up against it.

Normally what I see is on the first day of windy conditions the deer don't move much. The second day they will move more if it's still windy. If the wind lays down in the evening on the second day they will generally move a lot. Now with that said, you throw the rut in and anything can happen.
