How did it pay for itself twice if they wouldn't pay the 2nd claim, and why not?

Both front hubs went out and a couple other little things but both front hubs would of been about $4k. My warranty ended aug 28 and the new problems happened like 6 days later

Not trying to be negative, but why would they pay if the problem occurred after the warranty expired?????

That’s like saying you should get to kill a deer 6 days after the season is over, or 6 days after your license expires!!

Very true.... it’s just mighty unfortunate that his issues happened freshly after warranty expiration. It’s definitely a kick in the nads.

If you're buying it from the dealer you're getting your truck at, shop around. You can buy the Ford Extended Service plan/warranty from any Ford dealer and most likely save $1,000 in the process. If you want to lump it into your loan, shop and get a quote then haggle with your dealer. It is negotiable.

OP, I may be old fashioned, but after the warranty is up on my car (60k I believe), I intend to just pay for any repairs. I would rather just pay the bill once it comes. National stats show the average warranty plan is around $1,200, while average costs of repairs claimed is around $800 to $900. So most likely, you're losing money in the end. Unless you want piece of mind, I would avoid it personally.

My current truck (Ford) is at 141k, and the only repair I have done is the intercooler pipe, which is a known defect. It cost me $200 to fix. I suspect you talk to most Ford owners (Not all), and you will hear similar stories with very minor repairs.

                Just my two cents.

i get where your coming from but where i see the flaw in those studies is they are an average. in my circle of friends and family, with newer vehicles, it has been that either the vehicle has no issues, or something happens and needs 4-5k in repairs for something. not much in between. and im sure if you averaged us all up it would be a net loss. but i know the guys that have been hit with major fuel system, transmission, AC etc.. issues were sure glad they got that extended warranty.

in the past i've had one that saved my butt, and i've had several laps with no claims.
i think of it like insurance. its there if i need it. helps me sleep at night while im making that hefty payment.

Should be as simple as calling one of the aftermarket extended warranty companies and ponying up.

I paid for 6yr/125k mile warranty on mine. 4 years in, I haven’t really used it, but I have had several things get covered under the power train warranty. As expensive as repairs can get On diesel trucks, I figure it’s a good gamble.

Lots of varying info here... I bought a 7/100k FORD warranty for my truck and thankful I did. I had an injector line go out and they replaced the line and an injector and it would have been $2500 or so. Im glad I had it.

Like someone said above, you need to shop it. I only suggest a manufacturer warranty. DONT GO 3RD PARTY! You can price the warranty online from many Ford dealers. Someone the well known ones for good warranty pricing are:
                          Flood Ford
                          Zeigler Ford

Mine was from Flood Ford. Extended warranty is easy money for any dealer. 5 minutes of paperwork and make a couple hundred bucks. Dont let your purchasing dealer get you for an extra $1500 more than you needed to pay.

Here is a thread on Slickdeals where people discuss places with competitive pricing for warranties:

Bought a 2012 Ram 1500 and purchased a lifetime bumper to bumper for 2500.00. 135,000 miles later,I’m glad I did. Have made that back and more. First was ac, had to pull dash, then exhaust manifold bolts busted, live on gravel road so front end has had some work. Very surprised at what it covers. Only thing I’ve done that it hasn’t covered is brakes.

                              Call Lombard Ford.

They have sold me the extended warranty on both of my last Raptors and made me a smoking deal. The dealer I bought the truck at was thousands over Lombard.
