    Trapping nuisance cats?

We have an issue with stray cats in our alley. A neighbor a few doors down, rent house, feeds them. I jump 4-6 in my garage nightly trying to get into our dog food. Typically I’d use the .22 but in our new neighborhood I can’t. Tips to trap them would be appreciated. I’ll dispose of them properly [emoji6] I have caught some cats in my dog proof coon traps, not sure if I should try them in the new hood.

Sounds like I’d start with a live trap and some dog food.

Live trap is what I use with cheap wet canned catfood. I won’t kill them seeing it will probably get you a Felony now days.

Haul them off to another ‘unincorporated’ place.

Speaking of that, I have 3-4 living in my backyard now that need to go elsewhere.

I don’t mind them but my wife and dog do. I’ll find my old live trap but never had luck with it and cats. I’ve always used dry cat food though. I will relocate them properly... do all cats go to heaven like dogs?

Had a similar problem at my grandparents place. Lady across the street used to pour out a 25lb bag of cat food on her porch for all the "starving and lonely kitties out there". She had probably 60 around her place in a few months time, I can't even begin to describe the smell. I used a medium (think half again as large as a coon trap) live trap with a smear of cat food on a paper plate. Caught three or four at a time morning and evening initially. Tapered off a bit after the first week. Just so you are aware stray cats are typically very very angry in a live trap so when you take them to the local shelter or rehome them out elsewhere they are going to come out of that trap as a ball of fur and teeth.

Tell him he’s not putting out enough cat food. Then call the animal control dog/cat catcher and see if they can come and trap them.

Be careful. It is illegal to trap in some areas. It is illegal to relocate them in all areas.

Not sure what you’re talking about. I have decided to coincide with these lovely kittens and will allow them to run freely throughout my neighborhood as they please... just in case.

I use live trap and dry cat food, cat food smell is about as any other cat smell, it's a never ending stream, got 3-4 ccl's within a few blocks. Out here in small town there's an added problem, several cat food stations don't get by the nearby coons, possums, and skunks so I keep 3 traps going 24-7.

110 Conibear in a wooden box and a fish carcass. Wire the trap off to something stout in the garage though.

In your garage? Yeah they’d be going somewhere else.
