Is it to late to grunt/ rattle deer?

Last week I was having decent luck rattling bucks in had about 8 different ones come in. Now it’s like they have no interest or they aren’t around. When do y’all rattle and grunt? What is the best technique or is there one?

Depends on where, but I think they both have a place season long. I’d say rattle and grunt but not aggressively. I rattled up an 8 point last year late November and he came looking for a fight.

But, that was on a property that hasn’t been hunted in a long time. Public land, I wouldn’t rattle. I’d let out occasional contact grunts. Maybe some doe bleats.

Thanks guys. I’m hunting ion the seguin/LaVernia kinda area. I haven’t seen any real rut activity but I also haven’t seen many deer so I could have missed it. Usually the get more fired up for us right around this time.

I passed through La Vernia early this mornin and saw a decent 8 pt or so chasing a doe in field. I’ll be buying some rattling horns next trip to the ranch for sure.
