    Cottonseed in a bag

My feet store started to sell cottonseed In a 50 pound bag
13.00 they said I would have to build a cage or something

    Anyone ever use it

Yes. The search engine is your friend. Lots of threads about it. One thing we do, is spike our cotton seed with minerals. Seems to help our deer.

Oh, and we buy ours by the ton, in 1000 lb super sacks. Saves a ton on money.

Is it regular cottonseed or delinted? If it's delinted meaning just a smooth seed you can put it in a protein feeder.

You can get whole cottonseed pellets cheaper than that and bulk regular cottonseed a lot cheaper. If it still has the fuzzy lint on it then you will have to make a feed ring but that's really expensive.

Oh yes, the expensive feed ring that will hold 400# of cottonseed is a whopping $30!!!!

I'm saying it expensive to buy it in 50 pound bags at $13 a bag vs buying it in bulk.

Try it out in a couple locations with the bags and if they take to it, buy it in bulk!

Its expensive but if you are the only one using it there WILL be deer there. Its like Crack to them. They eat it over almost everything. I have started to use it as attractants as well, plus cows dont mess with it too much

I don't mind the price of the cottonseed, we have been feeding it for 5 years not during the off season and seeing great results. We had the gravity protein feeders and the got clogged up. I was told to use the watershield by Purina BUT I question what they put in the watershield that doesn't allow it to get wet and what is does to the deer's guts.

Our deer are weird. We put it out in our feeder pin's and they never touched the stuff.

I never tried it out in our area per you’re advide! I went to all the trouble to make 5 or so alfalfa feeders and the deer never touched the stuff. Just stickin to tried and true corn and protein with some wheat, oats, peas and elbon.

We tried alfalfa too and the cow's trampled the hog panels to get to it. The deer never ate it either. Something about that area im telling you

I would def try cottonseed but if it's regular cottonseed that still has the lint then I'd find another supplier or just feed protein.

My cows just ate an entire ring of it in two days, they avoided it the first day we turned them in, but apparently they took a liken to it shortly after.
