No idea but a friend of mine collected War memorabilia years ago. Sold it for $85K in 1984 said he looked it all up now and it would have sold for $2 million plus today.

Now that is pretty cool. Dad still has a Springfield (?) 30.06 from WWI that he bought from the military for $12 when he was in the army. Other than that I don't know much about those artifacts. Thanks for sharing.

I have my families items they brought back and add more to it when I find it. I enjoy preserving history, hearing the stories, and honoring what they did.

That knife looks like something a soldier traded a Jap for.

When i was in the 101at we had markings similar on our equipment (ruck, assault pack, load bearing vest). Im not saying its the same but im just throwing some info out there. The triangle could stand for the company, the square over top of the triangle could be what platoon and the two squares further down could be what squad. Example triangle (Charlie Company) top square (1st platoon) two squares (2nd squad). Could mean something completely different but we used to have markings somewhat like that.

I have one of these my f-i-l brought back from WWII. Not in good condition though as it stayed out in his unheated, uninsulated shed for many years.

Also have a Japanese Arisaka 7.7mm rifle as well.

My wife has a bring back Japanese sword that doesn't have a handle and just has a plain wooden scabbard.
I asked a guy for info on it and he said it was a machine made sword made in Seki, Japan.

that's cool..I have a Japanese bayonet with a wood scabbard I read that they used wood because steel supplies were dwindling late in the war...some of the Katana swords are highly valuable a friend of mine has one his father brought back from the war we removed the stingray hide handle and found cool inscriptions on the steel.
