Why do people bother applying to go on the show if they are going to quit the first day?

There is always one that gives up before they get started.

I wonder the same. Figure it makes better tv. They can't all be Alan's.

      Did the new on start?

Yes started tonight. I just think if you can only last a couple of hours in a tough situation that you volunteered for then life is going to kick you in the balls several times along the way

BEcause most folks are not quite as awesome as they think they are.
It really is funny how people can quit before things even have a chance to get difficult.
Hell, i could not face my family or friends again if i did not make it at least 20-30 days

Everybody thinks they are awesome and they all want their 15 minutes of fame. Literally.

It ticks me off, because he took a spot that most others would have endured longer

My theory is they have all sorts psychologists figure these folks out months beforehand to make sure they have good TV.

X2. I might have to move away and start over if I did that!

I have it on the DVR. I watched the episode inroducing the people last week. It's one of the few TV shows I enjoy. After the first episode I can usually spot the top two immediately.

I would love to do that show. But for me, it would be more of a vacation. Doesn't seem that hard to camp out there for a while.....

Camping turns into survival pretty quick when your few ziplock bags of issued trail mix run out. There have been a lot of hunters and trappers on the show and no one has killed anything except a few mice. No rabbits, no deer, no squirrels. Fishing has been hit or miss. Chopping/gathering wood burns calories that you may or may not have to spare. And the percentage of the population that are wired correctly to be able to be alone with no human contact for several months is very small.

With all that said, I would love to give it a try (if for no other reason than a chance to lose some weight!).
