How has Granger been this year guys?

Hello everyone. I just returned home from what is hopefully my last deployment to Iraq last night. I was curious how your experiences have been this year at Granger. I know it has been a dry year. What effect has this had. I am still at Camp Pendleton for a few days until I fly home to Georgetown on the third. I might try some duck/deer/hog hunting while I'm home. Let's hear the good news friends, and the bad. Thanks a lot everyone.

As far as numbers, there are always plenty at Granger, it is getting off an arrow, during legal hours, that is the challenge.

Like they said, early fall hunting was tough, both because of all the tall cover, and the bugs were still out. Now we have had some cold weather, the leaves are off, and the bugs are frozen, so prospects of actually taking a hog are better.

                Bring in on, Warrier!

This is actually the driest year we have had in a very long time. All of the pastures are hurting and the river is almost completely dry.

I'm 2 and 6 at granger this year, 100% on seeing hogs. The two i've killed were both 150 and 175 lbs

Yeah, I was thinking that as dry as it has been, the first place they might head when it starts getting dark is to take a drink. All the seeps and springs are dried up, leaving only the main river stem and the lake. And that brings them out of the cover.

I think I might head out there Wednesday morning. I don't have a bow so I'll hunt with a camera

Time spent scouting is time well spent. Just dont forget the orange hat and vest, and even if not hunting, you still need the $16 public lands access permit.
