We had this discussion the other day. I voted not to plant to close to season others kinda of along the line of what some of yall are saying late sept to 1st week of October. I like to try to get out of the woods 4 weeks before season and stay out till the opener. I planted this past weekend. Didn't plant Oats but everyone said it was too early for what I planted

The last three years I've waited on the weather. Ended up being a couple weeks into October

Unless your place is out in the middle of BFE and away from all civilization then those deer probably could care less about farm equipment. I know at our place there is tractors operating nearby on a daily basis. They deer are use to it.

I planted some last week because of the rain and they are coming up good. Will I have any issues with them dying on me or deer eating them up before the season?

We're planting this weekend. Temps look to be highs mid 80 next week, and says u can plant rye wheat first of sept. We will see more about when we all have the time and equipment to get it done. Cross fongers

I always try to put a camera in my plots right after I mow them making all kinds of racket. And always get pictures. The deer don't mind the activity, and are actually curious about what is going on. I don't think you will mess up your hunting by planting at the end of Sept or first of Oct. That is when we are going to plant because I want to make sure we are past he high 80/90 degree days

Around oct 1 for me. Deer really hammer them during rut around nov 1 for us in leon county. More central than southeast.

If we have a week or two of hot temps/no rain, your plants will start to
turn yellow and the deer don't prefer them like that. You might get lucky and avoid that happening, time will tell

I always plant oats, Crimson clover and whatever else I decided to mix in Labor Day weekend and have never had any issues.

Deer at my place haven't seen a tractor, just ATV farming. But I made a heck of a racket down there this weekend.
                            We'll see.
Maybe I'll wait till later next year. Just got a new implement to try out as well
