    Caddo National Grasslands '16-'17

Okay guys, my planning and scouting has officially begun. I hung two cams today and covered some ground on foot. Found some nice sign. Going to double down on the area I focused on last year. Sure wish I could figure out where they are bedding.

    Good luck and happy hunting.

I went out on Saturday and took advantage of the change in weather. Caddo has some descent sized patches of forest, but it amazes me that while I rarely get more than a mile or so from the truck, I've almost always logged between 5 and 7 miles by the time I get back (using GPS tracking). Has anyone else started scouting out there?

Hey guys I was wondering if any of yall know if crossbows were allowed at Caddo/LBJ? My wife just got a crossbow and wants to get out in the field. Thanks

I scouted again today. Not exactly confidence inspiring. I haven't gotten many trail cam photos and haven't seen any deer, despite having walked almost 50 miles out there since last season closed. I found deer right away last year, and may end up going back to those spots. I've found trails, tracks, food sources, even beds, but it seems like they are very quick to abandon areas they are using. This was my last trip until opening weekend. Good luck out there guys.

At that portion of the caddo grasslands is the APH required on the lakes for duck hunting?

An APH is required to duck hunt the lakes.

I just moved to Texas from GA and was planning on scouting the Caddo Grasslands. Any advice on hunting Texas public WMAs?
