    Game Cam Pic Question

Was at the lease this morning checking cameras and filling feeders. I came across this pic of a fawn with spots still? I was wondering if any of you guys have ever seen a yearling with spots at the end of March. I'm trying to figure out if it was born that late or just didn't lose it spots? The pic was taken on March 26th.

May be dumb to say but it looks like a fallow doe to me.... A head on of full profile pic would tell the tale

First thing to come to mind was it looked like a axis doe because of the black tail

This is in San Augustine county, deep east Texas. Don't think it's an exotic unless it escaped from somewhere.

We saw fawns in early Oct. in Rusk co this season that looked less than a couple weeks old.

Whitetail fawn that hasn't lost it's spots.

I agree 100%, but here where we hunt I have never seen one with spots still in March. Most of ours have lost there spots by mid November. That's what had me scratching my head and wondering how many East Texas hunters on here have actually seen fawn in late March with spots still?

Just a guess, but I think it was a very late fawn so it never did the summer to winter hair shedding, it may keep that coat until next fall, I guess it's biological hair change clock is out of sync.

We had bucks chasing in Mid March this year and last year. I am sure it was due to late breeding of the young does that did not reach breeding size or weight till then. I think this would or could give up a spotted fawn in the following March or maybe not.

whitetail for sure. Fallow lack the glands on the inside of the hock and on the lower outside of the leg. These are both visible in this pic.
