    Too early to plant?

I am planting clover, lab lab, cow peas and dwarf corn. Is it too early to plant is south east Texas? should I wait until April?

Ill be planting this weekend if weather clears.

I don't think it's too early. In Travis County the 90% confidence interval for a freeze breaks at March 15th, and we're headed for the 80s this weekend.
I don't see S. Texas having any weather that would threaten feed plots this year.

I think the temperature of the ground you're planting in would be the deciding factor. Probably needs to be 60* or higher.

Check the soil temps. Pretty sure soil temp is supposed to be checked in the mid morning (9am) two inches deep.

Even if a freeze is not likely if the soil temps are too low then germination will suffer will those warm season legumes.

Too early for me. I'm letting fall plots do their thing and not planting till late April or even first of May.What clover do you plan to plant?

May just disc and add some goat manure to it now and plant later in the spring.
