Gov. Abbott pees off the atheists

I love this. Abbott takes down the atheist winter solstice display and responds to their complaint with a very well thought and written equivalent to a middle finger with a smile.

Although the article, author, and comments will get under your skin, Abbott's response is well worth the read. Best governor ever.

Whether you’ve been turned off by religion in the past or have a question about one of the world’s religions, check out what Patheos has to offer.

It was the correct move on his part. The image was meant to insite angst.

Old news. Abbott overreacted and I thought the display was very reasonable. I don't think anyone can dispute that the founders saw the Bill of Rights as worthy of the same recognition as religion. Definitely not one of his smarter moves. Lawsuit won't stand though.

That would be fine but the separation of church and state comment was meant to antagonize.

But by that same argument, his recent actions allowing crosses on police vehicles can be viewed as a state run agency incorporating religion, basically merging the state and church.

Everything about their display was fine except the separation comment. It was on Capitol grounds so their message as basically the nativity doesn't belong here. That may be some people's views but not the majority in this State. Same holds true for what your saying. In a democracy a majority rules. If it's found offensive those can feel free to move along. California has a good climate I hear.

That was fine as well, a simple reminder of the actual words in one of our founding documents. If that's the message that you derived I would take another gander at it. Its basically stating that our founding documents are just as important as our faiths and merit the same consideration. Our government (federal and state) haven't given a flip about what the majority want until it fits their narrative which is no different in this case. That whole "if you don't like it than move" ideology holds no water, just like California.

Abbott is exactly right. The atheists' picture had nothing to do with religious diversity. All it was was a backhanded middle finger to Christians.

Yes they can. Christianity is a religion of love, humility, and putting others before self.

The separation of church and state was added to prevent the Church from running/controlling the State, not to prevent stately men from supporting the church in both private and public life. Read up on it. Just another area that has been perverted over the years.

ok, but doesn't the first amendment allow all religions the same freedoms?

                              even those of hate?

thats why i think he will lose...
