    Protein consumption

Are your deer getting after the protein pretty hard right now? Mainly curious about south texas area. Kinda curious abut what to expect. Usually in good range conditions our deer don't hammer it.

we have good conditions right now naturally and have some big food plots which they are tearing up and the deer are just now slowly moving back on protein. another few weeks then they should start pounding it. southern oklahoma

Not in your area but I filled Saturday. If my math is right they were eating 17 lbs per day per feeder. I have not idea if thats alot or not...

Not at all (Edwards County). We had a lot of acorns this year.

I add to the feeder but don't fill it at the end of season every year. We've been so wet and mild of temps that they hardly touch it.

Lots of native browse plus a good amount of oats translate into little usage until about March for me. It seems once the new antlers start to bud out the bucks hit it like a teen aged boy after football practice at Luby's....

Not consuming protein very much in Rufugio county. Still very green for this time of year. If I had to guess how much they are eating it's probably around 15lbs-20lbs a day out of my feeder. When they are hammering the protein it's usually around 75lbs a day.

We have record rainfall this year and our protein consumption increased over the years prior.

Southeast Texas is still really wet and at the house I have a high population of deer. I have a small 50 pound protein feeder, a 350 pound protein feeder, and corn feeder going. I also hand corn 25 pound every day. This morning I saw 8-10 deer alternating from the 350 pound protein feeder. They will also pretty much empty the 50 pound gravity feeder in 24 hours.

Slamming it! Fighting in the pens for a tube. Record levels of consumption the last 2 weeks.

Not sure about protein consumption, but they are hammering the cottonseed. Our feeders hold 400 lbs and this pic was taken 2 days after filling it up.
