    Zippo hand warmer review

I got a zippo hand warmer for Christmas and decided to use "The Great Blizzard of 2015" to test it out.

I expected (hoped) it would be slightly warmer than it is. But it's still warmer than the shake and warm bags. Warm enough to feel it against my thigh when it's in my fleece pants pocket.

It's extremely easy to refill & light. Mine is a12 HR and I still haven't filled it for that. I've run it for 6 hours plus and again for about 4.

Produces a slight odor, but when in a pocket or muff I doubt it would spook game. (Note: I'm using Rosonol fuel rather than Zippo Premium, so that might lower the scent).

All in all pretty good buy, I'm satisfied and it did it's job warming my hands in between shoveling snow.

I have two old timey Jon-e and two zippos. Jon-e gets warmer but they all will do the trick.

I lost my first one but got a new one last year. My only complaint is you have to remember to refuel them before the hunt, however, its a nice trad off given you lite it and have warm faster than the hot hands.

I was sold on them when I was a kid. My uncle took me fishing and I was cold. He busted out a rain poncho, put it on me, and had me place the warmer under the poncho. He had me sitting flat and tucked the poncho around me, so no air could come in. That hand warmer heated the air inside the poncho and I got warmed up quick.

I bought one a few weeks ago but have not had a chance to use it yet - looks like it will be cold enough to come in handy next weekend. My plan is to put it in my muff-type hand warmer while in the stand - we'll see how much it helps

Have a couple and use in Alaska for late season fishing. I like em - fairly low temp but last a long time - drop em in hand warmer pockets and great for keeping hands warm between bites w/o getting too hot

Casey, do you have the "deer-coy" scent attachments for yours? I bet there's still a bottle of the "scent" around dads someplace!

I got a couple of the gel packs for Christmas that are reusable and they seem to get plenty warm. They say 10 HOURS but I haven't tested them yet.

I don't. I remember taking the Jon-e to school as a kid. Imagine the trouble you'd get in today doing that. I can only imagine what I smelled like with that thing burning in my pocket!

I recently bought this one off Amazon. It's about the size of a pack of cigarettes and charges via a USB/ Micro USB port. It stores power so it can also be used as a cellphone charger and has a small flashlight. I have not yet tested it in actual conditions, but it gets pretty warm.

It comes with a satin carry/storage bag.
