I would whack him on my place but on a great ranch he walks.

I am whacking him as a management buck, he should be better than that even in a bad rain year. Might even be a post mature buck on the decline. Would be surprised that he made it this far on a well managed ranch. JMHO.

He looks in good shape for his age. You'll notice the lowering on his front legs, the knees beginning to swell and callous a little bit, the skin hanging off his lower jaw. My problem would be that all the other's in his age class are much bigger than he is. He lacks everything compared to the other deer in his age range. Lacks mass, lack width, lacks tine length. I would be trying to whack him as a management buck.

Whack him, as a management buck. Even if he blows up next year I don't think he fits the management plans myself.

                              I agree, I'd be hearing a thud
