    Expandable Broadheads

I haven't shot expandable broadheads in 14 yrs. I'm thinking about getting some with a "cut on contact" tip this time around. So I thought I would turn to my trusted green screen brothers to get some input.
For those that are shooting expendables, what are you shooting?

Depends on the poundage, KE and type of game. For just WT deer I have used rage, Nap killzone, rockets, and grim reaper. All will do fine. If you hit a animal in the shoulder or a bad spot period with any head it will not matter. Blood trails. I have had better luck with the regular style rage heads, nothing wrong with any of the blood trail from the others I just have seen more blood with them. I also shot them the most also. Got some buddies trying out the executioners they look to probably preform well long as they don't plane out of you bow. I wouldn't recommend the nap killzone I just didn't like the way they preformed l. Nor would I use a blood runner. Just my thoughts. Your going to open. A bag of worms on this deal. This question pops up every now and a again.

Yea I don't want to create a brand war. I just want to see what people are having success with before I invest the money.

I'm shooting Rage Hypodermics and I've had good luck with them. I had good luck prior to that with the original 2 blade Rages, but I know it's a love/hate with Rage so you'll get a lot of mixed replies on them.

Rage have been great for me, but I know a lot of people don't like the small orings that they use to hold the blades. You can always go by Lowes/home depot and pick up thicker orings.

            I shoot Rage.
Only issue I have is having to replace blades after every animal I shoot.
Aside from that. they leave a devastating blood trail so I'm ok with it.

I've used the NAP Killzones and Bloodrunners. The KZ are same concept as Rage, with no o-rings or collars.

I was just looking at the G-5 Havoc reviews on Cabelas website. The two blade and three have great reviews but it looks like a lot more people reviewed the three blade? I like the two blade because the have a cut in contact tip. Anyone have any expectancy with G-5 expandables?

Not a brand slam, but a dislike of a specific type.

I am not a fan of the NAP semi-mechanicals..... The compression of the tip causes the expansion of the blade, like a spring. This absorbs some of the initial KE and acts, at least a bit, like an airbag before you get penetration.

I switched to Rage Hypo as they are rigid and expansion happens after penetration, not during.

                    YMMV.

So it looks like the Rage brand has the most follows then? I'll look to see if they have a cut on contact head.

Check out the Executioners, and grim reapers. Both are awesome.

Rage Extreme is what I have been shooting for a few years now. Cant complain.

I've had good results from the G5 T3's and shot a speed goat with a Havoc last year. Everything has gone down quick with good blood trails. I will say this though. Operator error on these heads is something to think about. I "set" the blades on the T3 too tight and shot a muley with one 2 years ago. Perfect shot and he went about 100 yds but no blood at all. when I opened him up found that the blades didn't deploy. This was my fault but still something to think about.

I took my buck with swhacker and he went 15 ft.. think I'll be sticking with those for awhile.
