    TBH Trad Hog Hunt 2016

I know its a long ways out, but to ensure we could get the dates we want I went ahead and reserved them at Texas S Ranch. I have reserved April 1-3, Easter will be March 27, so there will be no conflict. I have been in constant contact with Dale, the ranch owner and believe we will have another great hunt with him.

This is a copy of the last email I received from him:

Phillip, those date are open and i have penciled you in for those dates. We are taking measures to prevent issues we experienced this year. I just got back from the ranch and i built a 2 acre holding pen so we can hold hogs and put them on good food and all natural worming product for 4 weeks before we turn them out. This will also serve as a safety stock if we run low. We will do everything possible to make your hunt enjoyable. I hate that we had the issues we had this year, but it was definitely a learning experience for us and i appreciate your understanding. I look forward to having you guys back.

Matt, I'm going to give the guys that were on either of the first 2 trips first preference. If there are any spots after that I will open it up.

Jeff, I was counting on you.

So they aren't wild hogs?? Or I guess what I'm trying to figure out, is that they are put there for shooting, it's not a fair chase hunt?? Not trying to step on toes, just wanting to know some info before I would commit. Thanks

Oh trust me, they are wild!!! It's a fenced ranch specifically for hog hunting. They buy trapped wild hogs just like any other fenced hunting ranch. It's a lot of fun because you have opportunities to spot and stalk them without scaring them into the next county. Don't think you can just herd them into a corner like some scared little sheep and pick one to shoot. It's definitely not easy using trad gear.

Ok Jeff, thanks! I'm really not trying to start anything, just wanted a little info.
How many acres are we talking about? Where is the ranch located?

It's up just south of Clarksville near Paris. I don't know how many acres but it's plenty to make your legs and feet sore by the end of 2 days of walking. It's a lot of fun.
