    Hill Country - Jawbone Aging

I am attempting to get a bit more educated on jawbone aging and I am curious on the opinions of these two jawbones. Both are from the same lease in Real County. We feed protein from about March - September and corn almost year round. The taxi I used said deer #1 was 8.5 years.

It is hard to judge age by teeth past 6 1/2 but deer #1 is ancient and deer 2 3 1/2

7.5 plus on first deer and like said after this point teeth are pretty worthless on aging.
second is hard to tell without a top pic to show dentine wear better. from that pic id say at least 3.5 but no older than 4.5. Crests are still rigid and sharp.

I would say the guy is correct.
              Deer 1 = 8.5 or more
              Deer 2 = 4.5

7.5 and 3.5. Dentine on the second molar of the second deer is not wider then the enamel so not 4.5
