    Tree stand step idea

I was just bored and decided to draw up an idea for tree stand steps. I was really tired of climbing up my stand on a muddy morning, and coming down from it would cause my hands to slip on the metal. I decided I would make a drawing and hopefully a prototype if you guys agree on the idea. The top of the step will be used for holding on to, while the base will be used as a step. I also want to add a Philips head in the front for easy attachment/removal. Let me know what you think.

If you are worried about it, I'd stay with a ladder!

I think there are steps like this already out there.

Going to do a lot of damage to a good tree if you have these every 12'' or so.

Good idea, I'd recommend a "Allen Head" socket instead of a "Phillips". Will be easier to drive and won't back out and strip..........easily drilled and broached when manufacturing. Great idea VD!

bolt head, so you can use a ratchet and socket to pull them out

I'm not a big ladder fan. I feel like it's just a beacon for deer to look up at you.

I usually have mine spread out pretty far, and not any different then screw in steps would

Just curious but what would keep it from rotating when you add weight to it? If you take a step on it wouldn't it be easier for it to move since a step would cause it to rotate left (lefty loosey)?

I was thinking about adding a point to the base to prevent it from rotating

Think you have a good idea going here, just needs a little more thought. I like the hex head idea so you can use a socket.

Once you get something like that screwed into a tree, you don't need to worry about it rotating.

why worry about a head at all? you've got leverage points and any straight or semi straight rod would do the turning for you.
