    Cattle pannel blind

I first got the idea off someone on here about using cattle panels. I was hunting for some axis one morning after a hard rain and decided I needed a good ground blind. I had some horse panels that had been moded for a old trap. I ended up putting a panel over the top but still deciding what I am going to cover it with. I also need to cut the panels or have the opening part towards the feeder. Give me some ideas

Feeder is about 100 yards away but last time the deer travel about 10 yards from ground blind.

I hunted out of one of these cattle panel blinds a couple years ago at the Bugscuffle Ranch and I thought it was the coolest ground blind. if im not mistaken there was plywood on the roof covered by a tarp with brush on top. The sides had grass and cedar weaved thru the panels. As for the windows they were made of shoot thru screen or mesh. I covered the windows I wasn't using with camo clothing and wore all black.
The two days I hunted in that blind I was covered up with Axis Blackbuck and Red Stag.
They never knew I was there. I hope this helps

Old artificial Christmas tree branches work great for covering. I line the inside it mine with camo burlap, the outside with the branches. I also use some spray paint to add some other color to the branches to blend them better. Plywood roof painted black inside and covered with branches on top. I wear all black in the stand and put on a camo pullover or something when I leave.

These are definitely great blinds. I would cover the top with a tarp and stretch it tight to keep water from piling up. You might have to put some plywood on the roof before that though since its flat. Cover the inside with carpet and then cover the blind with cedar to make about a 3-5' wall around it. Best part is you can leave it out forever.

Tarps are pretty noisy in rain, especially when stretched really tight. Kinda like the head on a drum. A piece of 3/4" plyboard w/slight tilt would be better and last longer. Want something that lasts forever??......get one of those big ol' satellite dishes! Most folks that have one on their property are wishing they didn't and see it as an eyesore. That's your opportunity......offer to remove it and they usually "give" it away.

You can see mine in the other cattle panel blind thread here in the DIY section.

Sure beats buying and replacing popups!

Find some logs that are piled up on the ranch, an old trampoline(for free on craigslist), may a couple of pieces of old tin for the roof if you want to stay dry.

That is a very true statement about a tarp that is stretched tightly. That's once reason why if you do use a tarp, piling a bunch of brush over the roof is necessary to stop the water from falling straight on the tarp. It will it the brush first and then will either run off or only fall a few inches onto the tarp. Still making some noise, but not very much.

An old large satellite dish is definitely the way to go if you can find one.

That's a good idea; my best feeder is in a field with very little foliage; get for rifle hunting. I need to come up with something closer where I can bow hunt out of and not seem so suspicious. That gives me an idea, and I need to get on it now so they get used to it.

Our first doe of the season was taken out of this blind yesterday. Worked perfectly.
