    Shot a Prime Impact & E35 tonight

    Impact:
    28.5 inch draw
    64 .lbs
    430 grain arrow
    269.6 fps

    E35:
    27.5
    60 .lbs
    430 grain arrow
    242.5 fps

Both shot well, but I gotta say I was surprised and impressed by the Prime. Not because of speed just because of draw cycle and forgiveness of my horrid form. That thing is a real shooter. It held very well!

    Anybody hunting with an Impact?

Why the different draw lengths and weights? Be hard to accurately compare them.

That's what they had at CCR setup last night. I'll be back to shoot the E35 few more times.

I've shot and tuned enough bows the difference isn't that big of a deal. I also will be shooting some other bows.

Cinnamon creek tried to push Prime on me and my buddy a couple of months back. I don't think they are bad bows but I thought the draw cycle was personally a little awkward feeling. They are definitely worth looking at but I guess I'm just a sucker for Mathews.

The ones we shot were also very heavy bows.

They were right to push them, Primes are awesome. My favorite was the Defy, the draw cycle is just as smooth as my Elite and the back wall is rock solid just like the Elite as well. No cam lean and a pretty cool flex guard that is adjustable to decrease the torque on the cables. I think their technology is pretty impressive. The one thing I noticed was, at least with the Defy, absolutely dead at the shot. ZERO vibe whatsoever. I would take one in a heartbeat.

I'm surprised you feel they were heavy. They're the only manufacturer I know that weighs their bows loaded as it leaves. Matthews Hoyt PSE BT all weigh them without string stops etc.

BTW CCR didn't approach me about a Prime or attempt to "Push" anything on me. In fact, it was suggested I shoot them all.

4.5 .lbs mass weight on the impact.

Chill - 3.95 .lbs approximate with string stop at 33" AT A

Mr5 and Monster Safari are both 4.5 without string stop and HS at 33" ATA.

So Matthews bows are heavier and shorter.

The prime bows have no valley and a jumpy cam. The draw is smooth though.

Never experienced that on a Prime at all. I have owned a Centroid and an Impact.

Valley is shorter than an Elite but longer than alot of hybrids. Just push/pull and you will never know the difference.

In all fairness, CCR strongly encouraged us to shoot several bow brands. They are great over there!!

I think everyone looking for a new bow should definitely give Prime a shot. I just personally didn't care for it. I didn't weigh the bows but the specs dont lie. I'm just saying the prime bows we shot were bulkier and felt heavier than the other bows we shot. (Hoyt, Mathews, PSE)

This is exactly what I thought when I shot one. It was not for me.

The cam felt a little jumpy to me as well. Not PSE jumpy or Bowtech Destroyer jumpy, but you can't relax a little a full draw like an Elite. It wasn't jumpy in a bad way, but it wants to go if you relax IMO of the one I shot.

Yeah. I didn't notice that at all. It wasn't like the Valley on an Elite or my Obsession, but that's a good thing.

Long valleys serve nobody well at all. They encourage poor skeletal positioning at full draw. "Relaxing" actually engages muscles that shouldn't be engaged during the shot process. You can hold all day long when skeleton and core is engaged properly. "Core Archery" by Larry Wise actually changed my life in regards to how long I can hold and still get off a great shot.

Extra long valleys in Elite can be tuned out a lot easier than most but I still couldn't get sub 80% let off on the last one i played with.

I wouldn't call it long in my E32 but manageable. I can't handle a jumpy cam any more. You may be quite right when target shooting but I hunt. My targets move. It isn't standing in perfect form. It's twisted around in the seat of a climbing stand or leaning around a limb for a clear shot. A jumpy cam is too difficult to control when you have to adjust for those situations.

I only hunt. Stand, stalk, boat shooting, parachuting etc ultimately no matter what crazy hypothetical you come up with my point is applicable, especially when talking about ethical shots.

*This will be my first year prepping 3d and field for an amateur run.
