    Chain link feed pen?

Are there any disadvantages to using chain link for a feeder pen? I have some I want to take down. It's the standard yard fence height (4'?)

I could see pigs going under it. They go under our netwire fences all the time. These fences are tight, and have a strand of barbwire on the bottom, and 2 starnds on the opposite side of the post! The barbwire & netwire are on the ground!

Could be tough to shoot through.

I have never attempted to shoot through a feeder pen...too much risk of a deflection and either missing or wounding something.

That's the negative I was looking for. I've never had a pen before so that never even crossed my mind. Although it would probably be big enough that I would be shooting over it. I sure would hate for the one shot a big buck to be messed up by it. Looks like I'll use the field fencing.

              Thanks

Your best bet is bull wire or piping. Chain link wont be good

What are you trying to keep out, if it's pigs then chain link or field fence won't work, If cattle then either will work but you will really need to be at an elavated area to shot over or build a gate and open it up while you are hunting.

Just get rebar to use as stakes. It is only $5.91 / 20' stick. Cut in 2' pieces and twist a wire to it holding the bottom down. Pigs root although a few will jump. To get in they usually push or go under, once they are trapped they will go nuts and run through it or try to jump over.
