    Skinning Rack

Hey guys we are about to upgrade our skinning rack from a pipe between 2 trees to a custom one made out of pipe and a boat trailer winch. My question is how thick of pipe and what diameter of pipe should we use. We thinking of 4 foot in the ground with 10 foot above ground and 6 foot wide. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, TWAP

      Agree on all, especially floor

Add a sink and hose with water and you are golden

I think we went 10' high as well. On an average deer once you get to the point you want to take the neck meat and shoulders off, that area is a tad under waist high for me (Im 6'1"). It could be a tad higher.

Not exactly what you're wanting but this is what we threw together with "reclaimed" material. Our winch is attached to one of the posts and run through two pullies. Since this pic we have a 4' strip light and a plug. Theres room for another winch or two but since its only 3 of us hunting we havent really needed it. Sheet metal shelf for knives, cameras beers what have you.

And it doubles as night time parking for ranger, tractor etc

Good luck with the build. I have been wanting to build one myself for a while so I am curious to see what you come up with.

                    Here is ours.
Put 2-bright led lights up, flagstone pad, 2- 110 plugs as well for saws etc, have water right next to it for clean up.

when we built ours in Llano, we made it a bit wider than the truck bed with a marine grade winch mounted on one post. worked great 'cause you could load up the deer, pull the truck right up between the two posts, set the gambrel/winch and then just pull the truck forward leaving the deer hanging. much easier on the back.

may be personal opinion, but i also like to have multiple lower tie points to tie off to. i cant stand a deer spinning while i am trying to work a knife. nice to be able to tie a lower leg off to a low anchor point to keep the deer from spinning on you.
