From Shipping Crate to Bow Blind (in progress)

I bought two plywood shipping crates from Cur Dog on TBH. They are 5x7 and 7' tall. What I love about these is they came with a decent base and everything snaps together with some heavy duty metal clips (even the roof).

I started out by bracing up the base and getting the squeaks out:

Cut out a door and hinged it/put door latches on outside and inside:

Painted the inside back and sides black on the top 3/4th:

Cut some rough windows with a very unfriendly Dewalt 14.4v skill saw. Look close and you can see the clips which lock into the frame and the braces on the sides:

Casey gave me some leftover carpet from their garage sale and I laid it out and cut it. Surprisingly, it came out perfect.

I bought 5 gallons of "bullfrog green" exterior latex today and that will be going on the outside (no spillage jokes Cull, Wassaw, etc.).

I'll be making some type of shoot through mesh windows. The simple way: staple it to the inside. The complicated way: Some type of removable frame with the mesh inside that can be replaced with plywood window coverings while I'm not hunting. It'll be elevated somewhere around 6' to allow shooting over and into the feeder pen.

The other shipping crate will be converted into a rifle blind for me and the boys to sit in. The only difference will be the windows.

I'll post up some more pics after the paint, mesh, etc.

    Thanks!

Yeah...they're probably too big. But I had to put them low enough for my sons to shoot out of while sitting in a chair and high enough for me to take a "Hail Mary" shot! They're 10" wide by 30" high.
