How much time left

How much time left for antler growth this year? When do you think the growth process end before shedding velvet?

Not much longer I don't think, but I never can remember when I usually see them start showing up hard horned. I'll look through some of last years pics.

I usually see hard horns in mid to late Sept. Just when I could take one in velvet they seem to be velvet free.

Yea, they always shed sometime in September. It seems though that you never see any additional antler growth past the 10th of September even if they keep their velvet for a a couple more weeks

Heres the earliest I've got, there's a gap between 8/23 and 9/2. I think the thick 9 was the first to lose it last year, all the deer were hard horned in a pic on the 17th

Really depends on the individual deer and the area of the state. I have seen Hill County bucks shed around the 25th of August and a South Texas buck still in velvet the last week of October at Halloween.
