I found a skinning knife style I wanted, but couldn't find the knife. I bought a kit from Jantz- all I have to do is attach the handle and shape it. How do you keep from scratching the tang as you sand/shape the handle? Or do you just polish it back out?

Just fine sand it after shaping then polish up good and will look nice -
Tape up the blade with masking tape. Finish the front edge of the handles before you glue them on. Finish shaping and fine sand the rest of the handle after glue-up.Comment

Yeah, that makes sense after I re-read it. As far as the spine goes, just polish it out again, like Leon said.Comment
