Fallow on lease!

We are hunting a new lease in Menard this year. We were told there may be axis that come through from time to time, but when we pulled the first card...we have fallow!
My question, since I have never hunting them, are they good to eat? Anything special they like or don't like? Are they as skittish as axis? Any new noises we can expect?

I like Fallow meat over WT but not over Axis. As far as hunting them goes... Sometimes they are paranoid and sometimes extremely curious(especially young bucks). Once I was doing major reconstruction on a blind, powertools, hammers, the works. A chocolate fallow buck comes peering around the cedar 6 yards away to see what was going on let my sister walk up 5 yards and he would back off. She kept getting closer and he would stay till she got within 5 yards. We had a big White fallow many years ago who let my aunt get 40 yards to him and take pics the whole time.

Where about in Menard is your lease. We had axis on ours two years ago and overnight they were gone. Had a good herd of about two dozen regularly that hung out.

Very mature WT bucks showing up also. I have to get back and pull cards. It has been 3 weeks and they are on the feeders. I am really interested to see what is on this place.

I had a lease in Menard about 5 years ago. We had about 10 fallow that never jumped the low fence in our north pasture. Other lease members said don't shoot them. Next year they were gone.
