    Peep sight

Is a peep sight really neccessary? What does it actually do for you?

You don't need a rear sight on a gun either, but someone with one will shoot more precise.

I only ask because, I mainly hog hunt at night and seams like thats just one more moving piece on the mental checklist before pulling the trigger.

You don't have to have one. There are other devices to help with back side alignment. Such as kisser buttons. Personally I prefer a peep because I can look through it and see nothing but my one pin for aiming, centered. If it is not centered, I have an alignment issue to address.

There are lots of different size peeps, and even string splitters that work the same as a peep but are more open for low light conditions. And a lot of folks shoot just fine with nothing in or on their string. So find what you prefer and go with it!

If you have a solid anchor point, you don't need one, just practice. I have contact with my face in 3 spots. I could shoot without a peep, but I like the precision of a peep.

I hog hunt at night too and don't use a peep. Much easier to see!
