    Arrows?

I'm looking at buying some new arrows and not really sure where to start. I have never really thought about arrows too much other than the length. I have been shooting the cabelas arrows this past year, but want to step up and buy some real arrows.

    I'm shooting:

    Mission Venture
    30" DL
    70 lbs.

I am mainly hunting deer and hogs, but was thinking about going elk hunting this September (still thinking).

    Any suggestions on arrows?

Thanks for the help boys and girls.

I shoot Easton Flatline DOA, but you might want an arrow with a higher gpi for elk. I'd go with Easton Axis.

I shoot carbon express mayhem hunter 350's. A little pricey, but worth it.

What grain bh do you shoot with? It all depends on what type of spine you need. I suggest carbon gold tip, but it all depends on your bow adjustments.

Are you shooting Stock length? or are your arrows cut shorter than your Draw Length?
These are factors that need to be taken in consideration.
@ 70# you should be shooting an arrow weight of 350 Total.
The Flat line DOA is a good choice just go with the 340 which is 8.2GPI @ 30" this will give you 246 plus Broad head. I would go with a 125 grain set up. that is going to put your FOC at about 14-16% for Elk type game and a 100 grain will put you at 11-13%. It is your choice. any where in the 10-15% FOC range and should be fine.

I got mine thru Smithfield archery in ft worth.

                  I've been shooting I believe 29 3/4" arrows with 100 grain broadheads.

I want to put a new string and cables on soon too. But I don't really know much about weight and what not arrows I should be shooting for the animals I'm after.

On some bows with certain rests, you can get and shoot arrows at 29" with a 30" draw. Best to go to a pro shop, have them measure what length arrows you want or need to shoot an find the proper spine for that set up. I personally shoot Gold Tip XT Hunters cut to 28" out of a bow set at 70#'s with a 29" draw. The idea of a heavier arrow and a heavier BH to get you total arrow weight up and your FOC up are all good advice. Personally, nothing under 6 GPI for hunting is my suggestion, so 70#'s would take a 420 grain arrow. Just personal preference on that suggestion as I shoot 560 grains!

look dude, i say step outside the box. i used to shoot the beman hunters, speeds, etc.......and never had any complaints. but one day i went arrow shopping and happened across black eagle archery. did a little reading and quickly found out NOBODY had anything bad to say about them. i've been shooting bea deep impacts for about a year now and have no plans on even thinking about shooting another arrow much less nocking one.

these are bar none the best arrows i have ever shot. they measure well inside their advertised straightness and weight deviations. give them a look or better yet call randy and talk to him............try that with carbon express or easton.

                          bet you buy some!
