    d800 lens advice

Anybody use a d800 here? If so what is a good lens to photograph deer out to 200 yds?

First question is, what is your budget?

If you want to shoot at dawn and dusk, a 70-200 f2.8 will do a reasonable job for about $2,400.

If you want more reach at such hours, a 400mm f2.8 will run you about $9,000.

If you are only going to shoot from sunup to sundown, any of the 70-300 f4.5-5.6 lenses will work for around $600.

The above info is valid for sports photography as well.

    Kinda gets expensive, doesn't it?

I would spend less on the camera and more on the glass. Maybe the d600? They both do video I believe. You can rent a lens on line too. I live in Dallas so I rent longer lenses in town.
