    draw weight ?

I bought my wife diamond bow not too long along. She has been practicing at 35-40 lbs. What is the minimum draw weight she should shot for a 20 yard shot for WT. I have never worried about the weight before with my own bow.

She is shooting plenty! Aim small miss small. Good luck.

40 Lbs will get it done.

X2 like its been stated on other threads here, a close broadside shot and a good coc head and it'll work

40lbs, fixed blade broadhead, practice..... will have deer on the ground.

Momma D shoots 40# and I would not have a problem letting her send one into a WT.

I have to agree with the advice you are getting 100!

20 years ago draw weight was much more important. With today’s technology shooters obtain higher FPS with less weight. Bows have come a looog ways. My Wife’s old Parker, that is 10 years old this year, had a draw weight of 50 lbs and only gets 194-195 fps with 85gr FP’s and light wait carbon arrows. Today there are bows like the Diamond Atomic that are shooting arrows at 191fps from a 29lb bow. Or Bear’s Archery Apprentice that lanches an arrow at 260-265fps from a 50lb bow.

Basically, I am stating the same thing everyone else is, just in a different way. Know your bow and its limitations and the end result will be critters on the ground. Just remember that we like pictures!! LOL

                  Edit:
(Growing up in traditional archery, I would have never shot a deer with a 30 lb stick bow, but that is just me. I remember back in 2002 when I bought my Wife a bow, the reason we went with the magical poundage of 50 was because it was the states minimal requirement. Going down this road of thought further would be like debating what is legal and what is ethical to hunt with using a centerfire cartridge. Yes you can kill a deer with a 223, now what do you feel comfortable shooting... ... ... LOL)

Their is not a minimum. Proper arrow weight and broadhead design will dictate penetration more than the poundage when you get to low weights. Not alot of difference in 32 pounds and 40 pounds when it comes to weight only. Just make sure she is shooting atleast 10 grains per pound and a coc broadhead and she can kill an elk at 30 much less a whitetail at 20. Use the Trad guys type set ups as far as head design and arrow weight. They kill huge critters every year with bows that yield low energy as compared to a compound.

My wife shoots/hunts with 35lbs on her Razors Edge. I try to keep all her setups so her shots are within 15 yards. She's has killed two deer with her bow. First track job was less than 20 yards. Her buck she hit a little back but we found him about 90 yards from where she shot him.

Most important is not how much she is pulling. Rather that she is pulling it easily and comfortable. A pocket rocket deliverd from a 25 pound bow with a coc head is a dead deer. A gut shot delivered from an 80 pound bow is well, gut shot.
