    Difference in vanes

What is the weight difference in Blazer vanes vs 4" vanes? I have a dozen arrows that have 4" vanes and I'm thinking of having them refletched with Blazers. Help me out. Thanks, Tim

Quite a bit, roughly 15-18 grains if I recall. 5 fps.
Been awhile since I weighed them.

Ok. These arrows weigh 375 grains right now without a tip and I'd like to lighten them up a bit because they fly so good. I may have to refletch a few and see how they work out. Thanks

I might have told you wrong.
After trying to remember, if the 4" vanes are Duravanes, three weigh about 30 grains fletched.
Blazers weigh around 18 grains fletched.
Marco vanes weigh around 40 grains fletched.
        If my memory is correct?

These are what came on my CX Terminator Hunter arrows that I bought about 8 years ago. I know they are 3"-4" long and have a rubber/plastic feel to them. I'd like to get these arrows down to around 320 grains. I guess I could cut a couple inches off, but they may get too stiff. You have any experience with these arrows? They are all camo.

            Gonna need more info.
            Draw length?
            Bow?
            Arrow length and spine?
            Poundage?.
Tip weight, (although not a real issue).

Bowtech Guardian bow, 62lbs at 27" draw. Arrows are cut to 27.5" but I can go down to 25.5" and still have about 3/4" arrow past the rest. Using a 100grn tip. The arrows say 6075 so I'm assuming around a 340-400 spine. I just know they are heavy. They fly real good, but pretty slow and I really don't want to up my poundage.

Losing 12-15 grains will gain you 4-5 fps.(arrows are 400 spine), but as of now, you're good.
                Blazer vanes are the deal.
I would definately cut them down to 25.5. as this will gain more speed than a vane change.(around 9 GPI)= 18 grains and about 5-6 fps, Plus vane change(+5-6 fps)).
If re-fletching, have your tech cut them from the back end before re-fletching.
Too stiff is not an issue.

So I could gain 10-12fps by cutting to 25.5" and getting blazers? That's pretty good. I have no idea how fast I'm shooting now, but figure its around 250fps if I'm lucky. What is the going rate for refletching at a shop per arrow?

Got my arrows back today. Refletched with Blazers and 2" shorter, I lost exactly 25grns. My arrows weigh 350grns on the money. Fixing to go shoot. Thanks for all the help.

                        BT Guardian
                        62lbs, 27" dl
                        CX Terminator Hunters
                        350grn plus a 100grn tip 450grn total.
Cat whiskers is all I have on the string.
Not sure on BH's yet. I have some bloodrunners, g5 strikers and g5 strikers with magnum blades.
Any idea how fast I may be?

With that short of a DL and a 450 grain arrow I would say you may be shooting around 255 fps. That is plenty of speed especially with that heavy of an arrow. If you go with a COC broadhead like slick tricks then you'll be in great shape.
