What filter to use on sunset/sunrise pictures

I am an amateur photographer at best and I know nothing about using any of the settings except for those that are preset.

I have a Canon T1i and was wondering what filters are best to use when taking sunrise or sunset pictures.

    Thanks in advance

You don't have to have any filter necessarily. I typically have a polarizer on when shooting outdoors. Some people like to use a warming filter, but you can warm the colors in post processing these days without using a filter. You can use a graduated neutral density filter to shade the brighter sky so you can lengthen your shutter speed enough to brighten up the darker foreground. You can do that kind of thing in post processing too.

What Shane said... Typically with a sunrise or sunset, you shouldn't neet a filter as the colors should pop on their own. And if you want more, do it in post...

I use Manual Priority, ISO 200 and either use + or - on exposure settings to get the shots I do.
