Texas ASA 2012 is Here !!!!

Welcome to the 2012 Texas ASA Federation Tournament Trail. In 2011 we had another record setting year. We are looking forward to another great year in 2012. We have 20 state qualifiers on the schedule covering more of the great state of Texas than ever before.

Just to recap 2011 season……. the Texas ASA Federation with your participation achieved the following.

Most ASA clubs of any state ….28
    Most total participants….over 1800
Most shooters qualified for state championship …..over 800
Highest attended state qualifier in the nation…. 217 shooters
Highest attended state championship in the nation…. 337 shooters
Thank You Texas ASA Shooters !!!!!

We got a great deal of input from the shooters and from the survey we handed out at the state championship. Based on this information we have made some changes to the Shooter of the Year format for 2012. The changes are as follows:

There will be no regions for 2012.
    • You may compete for SOY at ANY state qualifier on the schedule.
    • You MUST shoot 5 qualifiers PLUS the state championship to be eligible for SOY.
    • You may shoot every qualifier on the schedule but your 5 HIGHEST scores plus your STATE CHAMPIONSHIP score will be your SOY total score.
    • You MUST register at any qualifier by April 1, 2012 in order to compete in the SOY competition and you MUST have a current ASA membership in order to be eligible for SOY.
    • Anyone not on the SOY roster as of April 2, 2012 will not be allowed to compete for the 2012 SOY championship.
    • There must be at least 3 competitors in a class in order to have a SOY competition for that class. (Per ASA Federation rules).
    • Per ASA rules there is no SOY competition for Bow Novice class and Open C class.

We would like to introduce our 2012 Texas ASA Federation Directors, Area Representatives and Webmasters. This is the crew that will help the host clubs run shoots. They will also register shooters, tabulate scores, keep the paperwork in order, act as range officials, hand out awards, post scores, track SOY standings and generally stay busy with Texas ASA 3D all season.

Mike and Tracy Smith are your Texas ASA Federation State Directors. We will be attending as many shoots as possible.

The north central and east Texas shoots will be run by Kurt and Tiffany Page. Kurt and Tiffany did a wonderful job last year running the east region shoots and assisting at the state championship.

Mike and Cari Wagstaff along with Blake Kidder will be running the southern part of the state. Mike and Cari are the face of Texas ASA in the southeastern part of Texas. We could not run shoots in southeast Texas without them. Blake is coming onboard to help us in south Texas.

Mike and Tracy Smith will be running the shoots in the western part of Texas.

Jimmy Mitchell is our At Large Area Rep and Advisor. Jimmy is the former Western Regional Director and Texas State Director. Jimmy's passion for building the Texas ASA Federation is unsurpassed. Jimmy laid the ground work that has made the Texas ASA Federation the nation's best.

Glenn and Celeste Salsman are the Texas ASA Federation webmasters. They are the ones you all depend on to get the scores posted, track SOY scoring, and keep the TASA website up to date. We greatly appreciate Glenn and Celeste and the work that they do.

Remember. All of the people mentioned above are volunteers. They do what they do because they love 3D archery and they love putting on great events. Shake their hand and tell them thanks when you get a chance.

This will be the biggest and best Texas ASA 3D season ever. We are looking forward to seeing all our friends. Come out and share in the fun and excitement .....The Texas ASA Tournament Trail 2012.

Erin was referring to the club/shop challenge that we shot on Sat. morning at the Pro/Am.
