Sweet and sour cabbage with Polish sausage

This is a rule of thumb recipe. everything to taste.

5 cups shredded cabbage, (I use whole head of small cabbage)
1/4 lb bacon, diced (I use from 4 slices to a whole lb, depending on who is eating.)
    2 T brown sugar, (I use about 1/4 cup)
2 T flour, (I use little more, because we like a lot of sauce.)
    1/2 cup cider vinegar
    1/2 cup water
    salt & pepper
    1 onion,(I use med size)
About 1/2 a link of Polish sausage

Cook cabbage in boiling water bout 5-7 min.
Fry bacon; remove bacon from pan.
Add flour and sugar to bacon drippings and blend
Add water and vinegar, and seasonings; cook until thick.
Add onion then cabbage, Heat through
    Crumble bacon on top.

The ( ) s what I do. also I add onion while making sauce just to cook it a little. Just our taste.

ONly took me nearly 2 1/2 years to try this, but it's great. One difference with my execution though--I made 2x the sauce and then turned it into a thick soup. YUM!
