    Hunts Bowhunting Ranch

I just returned from my third hunting trip to Hunts Bowhunting Ranch and I couldn't be more pleased with the hunt. I guess that's why I keep going back !!! I am new to this site so the site won't let me post pictures until I've been on the site for a while, but when I can, I will post the pictures of the animals I've taken at Hunts. Rickey Hunt is a fantastic guy and guide. My brother and I both like the way he does business. The first time we went, he showed us around the place, showed us some fantastic animals, and then let us make the decisions on how and where to hunt. He is always available to answer any questions and will give you any help you may need. I recently had open heart surgery and his handicapped blinds are perfect for my situation. I just can't say enough good about Rickey's ranch. You need to go to his website (www.huntsbowhuntingranch.com) and look at some of his animals that have been taken. And he has plenty more to choose from. I have never seen more beautiful animals. Thanks for reading.

We booked our first hunt about 2 months in advance, but my second and third hunts I would just call Rickey and see when he had an opening. Of course, he is usually booked on the weekends for awhile, but he has weekday hunts and it works out great for me because I'm retired. You won't ever regret going to Rickey's ranch.

                Another fine animal from Hunts

Sorry about this post. I can't get the picture to load. It is a real fine Sika deer and I will figure out a way to post it as soon as I can. Thanks.

I'll try one more time to post a picture of the Sika I took at Hunt's ranch. Hope it works.

Did you get pass-thrus with the crossbow? I have never seen one in action and have always wondered how the performance was compared to a modern compound bow.

Yeah, I've had pass-thrus on a blackbuck and the sika. A crossbow is really accurate and has a lot of kenetic energy on impact. The only thing I didn't get a pass-thru on was a big corsican ram and only then because I had a spinal shot. When my health returns to normal I am going back to a compound, but in the meantime, I enjoy hunting with my crossbow. Thanks.

I've heard there can be some real issues with broadhead selection, ie. making the bolt veer off at odd angles, etc. Have you had any of these issues?

Yeah, I tried the grim reaper mechanicals, but they would open before impact and veer off track. Lately I've used 150 grain excaliber boltcutters (fixed blade) and have had really good luck with them.

I heard you can stand in the middle and see the whole ranch! But they take them off the leash before you come... Its what 50 acres?

You heard wrong. I've seen about 300 acres and never have seen the back fence. It's a great ranch and has challenging hunts.
