    Simmons Rangefinder

Went to Cabela's this morning. They had a Simmons rangfinder on sale for 99.95. I had a 10.00 discount card to take care of the tax and got a 25.00 rebate form, so the thing will cost me about 75.00 after rebate. Played with it this afternoon seems to work ok. I took measurements from 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50yds. Everthing was on the money. Next stop real live hunting. I post how it worked in the field.

I went to Granger Sunday and used my range finder for the first time during a hunt. I didn't get to use it on any animals, but I did ranged trees and buckets that had washed down with the big flood earlier this year. Some times I had to hit a tree twice because I thought it was further that what the meter said. The trees are thick out there so a little common sence is needed. A clear shot is also needed, if there is a limb hanging down in the way it will give you that distance. It will range in the dark if you have something that is light colored to look at afterwards to see the black numbers. This is my first range finder that I have owned, so I have nothing to compare it too.

I will try to go out this weekend and see if I can report more. Maybe get a chance to use it on some animals.

Went to Granger this evening and got to us my range finder on some deer. I had a doe at 69yds and a small buck at 71yds. The trees are thick so you have to make sure that you are on the deer and not a tree. I was hoping to try it out on some hogs, but maybe next time. I think that it works fine, but it is my first so I can't compare it to anything.
