    Cattle vs. food plots???

I posted an earlier thread about my plot poss. being too small. I had to fence in an area to keep cattle out of it, only able to fence about 1/2 ac. Do any of you have experience in planting a plot knowing cattle are going to graze on it. Is that a total waste of time and money or do they not hit it all that hard. I'm planting I/C Cowpeas. I want to plant a couple of acres but I can't fence that much off. Any advice would be appreciated , thanks.

Cattle and food plots= happy to eat everything you are growing cattle....fence them out...the deer will put enough hurting on you jumping the fence to eat the young growth...

X2 not only will cattle eat everything but they will destroy your plot just by walking in them. However, the benefit is there is plenty of fertilizer to be dropped with them

I used to deer hunt in a cow pasture for years and that was a huge down fall. We had great deer on the place, but we couldn't plant food plots or use corn feeders because they would destroy it. We tried to plant a section of it one time, and it rained right after, and the oats came up just as pretty as you please. Cows found it when the oats were between 2 and 3 inches tall and literally in one afternoon it was completely destroyed. Disappointing but what can you do?

I have my feeder fenced in the keep the cows out and wold never plant anything that was not behind a fence of some sort. Cows will eat almost anythings.
