well i just got home from the Teton National Park and got some pictures downloaded to the computer so i thought i would share the 9 day hunting trip.
We left on the 16th and got there that late that night due to heavy snowing on the mountain passes. We just parked the truck with the campers, and went to sleep in them until morning to set them up without it snowing on us.
The next few days we fished the rivers and hunted the national forest for a cow buffalo and Ruffel grouse(stupid chicken). We got tons of stupid chicken but no luck with the buffalo. On opening mornin we were up and in the trucks headed to a spot that we had seen 3 big bulls the night before, but with dissapointment there was 5 other trucks already parked at the spot waitin on the same bulls. So Tim our freind from gillette knew the area well and hurried us over to a back road that was just down the road. He figured that with all of the hunters walking around in the dark over by the bulls that they would spook elk our way. Sure enough as soon as daylight came 2 big cows and 2 calfs came running out of the woods into the clearing. I rose my 300 Win Mag on the bigest cow and relized my scope caps were still on (40 yards)so i flicked them open as fast as i could, after i got her in my sights i went to pull the trigger-nothing( i frogot to click the saftey off) so then i got her in my sights again went to pull the trigger and heard a "CLICK", by the time i loaded a shell into the gun she was about 250 yards out and hauling! I got her into my sights but she was runnin too fast and i shot over her. but that shot is all i need for her to stop broadside at 290 yards i put the cross hairs on her shoulder as she started to trot off, BOOM i hit her with the second shot around 300 yards. She went 20 yards further and layed down in the the timber tree line. when i went to go track her my uncle seen her in the trees about to get up and run. (I wasnt about to drag her through all of that timber )so i put the cross hairs on her head and put her down for good.
Total almost everyone in my camp filled out ther tags.
