First off, I know this is not a Good South Texas Deer. Our lease boss has ask us to take out a few culls. He defines a Cull as as anything that is 2 1/2 years old and NOT a 10 point. I am not sure he is always right......but he is always Boss
I spend four days in Cotulla this week. Third morning found me in my ground blind on the Main Road. As it got light, I saw two bucks feeding on the corn, coming toward me. The first one was a 6 point without any browtines. That IS a Cull. Before they get to my shooting lane, a doe joints them. She gets to the shooting lane first. The little six is behind her. As he get right for a shot,I draw....just as he turns to walk away behind the doe. I let down as they go behind the brush. The other Buck is a 7 point, 2 1/2 years old. He steps into the shooting lane and turns to follow the other little buck and the doe. As I draw, he hears me and turns broad side. Thwack.. The shot is a little far back, but catches both lungs..barely. He goes about 40 yards and crashes.
D~Mo, here is you one
Later in the week, a group of Javis wanted some of the corn.
Then, the last afternoon, I was setting in a box blind scouting for a Good Deer and this Big Boy steps out. I shot him with the 300 Mag.
