Anybody ever have luck with an anti barking device?

I'm done with the new neighbors 2 dogs, they moved in 3 weeks ago and have made a habit of barking every night at 10:30 and every morning at 5:30. They have a dog door, so they go in and out when they please but for some reason these 2 times every single day they go nuts for 15-30 mins.

We have a one month old, so between it waking up the kid >my wife > me and then hearing about from my wife I'm done, got to try something. I would talk to the neighbor about it but its pointless in that they aren't letting the dogs out and watching them, they come and go as they please.

What to do? can't wait to get out of the burbs one day

I had a dog like that once. Barked constantly about the time I went to bed. I bought a bark collar and it worked like a charm. The dog even let me know when the batteries needed changing!!!
    Duct tape works too!!!

I've heard/read the 'training' collars for barking work somewhat well..

Trick with our dog was I didn't want her not to bark at all... so we just used our 'training' collar (shock) with the remote when she would go into the barking-for-no-reason mode at the back door, or because she just wanted attention... but we had to physically get up and verify that's exactly what she was doing..and not barking at animals/people or alerting to something....after the first few 'adjustments', she learned which barking wouldn't be allowed.. and has been pretty good since...
she will bark at exactly at 9:45 each night to tell us she wants to come in the house..(you can set your watch by it).
I'm sure there are others much better versed and experienced than I that can offer better tips..

I used a Bark shock collar it works great. However they learn when they have it on and will bark with it off.

I also used a remote training collar for our lab. That seemed to work better. I was able to control when she barked. I do not mind her barking when someone comes to the door or when I ask her to speak. I only correct her when she is barking at the door or for attention. You have to be very consistent when using a remote collar.

A guy I worked with got on that looked like a bird house....it needs to pointing to the dog...so if the dog goes to 1 spot and barks....that's were to aim it...he said it worked. He found it on a animal lover web site....

.22's work great.........oh wait not what you meant

Bark collars work well. I would talk to the neighbor first, even if you don't think it will make a difference. If they are not willing to work with you, then everytime you the dogs are making noise call the cops and complain about the excess noise. The cops will get tired of coming over and the people will get tired of the cops coming to visit. If that doesn't work, sucks that they got out and the pound had to pick them up.

Yes I use the innotek for the dogs that are not so stubborn and the large dog petsafe collar for the stubborn ones.

Do yourself a favor and talk to the neighbors first. They may not be able to hear them in their house.

I agree, Talk to your neighbors and see if you can encourage them to put bark collars on the dogs.

I've thought about all those suggestions and glycol steaks but its not the dogs fault that they're poorly trained, uncontrolled

I agree, but the dilema you face is that they are not your dogs and you just can't go over and put a bark collar on. My roommate has hgo dogs and they love to bark a lot. We tried the bird house thing and we think it works, but the dogs still barked just not as much and the batteries didn't even last a week. Bark collars are the only thing that kept them from barking. That is what you need to convince your neighbors to do. You at least have to give your neighbors a chance first. The barking may not bother them and they may not realize it bothers anyone else. And if you are in a neighbor hood, most have ordinances against barking dogs. Go those two routes first befroe you try something drastice. Heck you might even offer to buy them the collars. Harbor Freight sells one that works pretty well for right at $20.

Sorry.. misread.. didn't realize these werent your dogs.
                              Talk to the neighbor.
Peanut butter hotdogs work for a while.
