Is each mount basically a shoulder mount and then they are combined on a pedestal? If so, how does the taxi treat the back side that would normally be against the wall?

I had mine done last year with the idea that it would eventually go on a pedestal. They are individually shoulder mounted. The back of them is covered in leather, and look really good.
