    San Antonio poker players

Has anyone played at any of these poker rooms in San Antonio? I’ve been thinking of checking them out but was wondering if anyone had any experience?

I've been thinking about going also. I used to play in some of the backroom games around here and H-town but stick to casinos now. If you end up going let me know...

Yes casinos is all I do now as well. To be able to play and not have to drive to Kickapoo or Lake Charles has my interest.

I go to Shreveport for a week or so every other month for work so I get my poker fix in then. However, when the wife and kids are out sometimes I get the itch...

Well they have legal poker rooms all over Austin now. No need to go out of State.

Anyone play in north Austin? Just wondering if I've been playing with any TBHers

1/2 nl or 2/5 nl is what I normally play. One of the rooms has a fee of $35 and you can play all night. Another one I looked at has an hour rate $10/hr for the chair. No rake and you are not allowed to tip. They have found a loop hole to make it legal.

In Austin it's 9 or 10 per hour. BYOB. The loophole is because poker has always been legal in Texas as long as the house doesn't take a cut. So it's not a poker room. They are clubs you join and pay a rate to be in the club. This is why they usually have a couple pool tables and lounge area also.

It makes a HUGE difference when all the money stays on the table. Takes away the "can't beat the rake" saying.

thats a good deal was well. figured @ 20 hands per hour, its still only 2 bbs per hour.

normally an hour is 3 orbits, so it costs 3 bbs and 3 small blinds per hour to just sit and wait for aces.

Not legal....really. Check out TPC 47.02. Gambling is illegal in Texas. There is a defense to prosecution, but that doesn't mean you can't be arrested and prosecuted. It just means there's less chance of it.

poker is not gambling. it is a game of skill. calling phil ivey lucky is like calling tom brady lucky. if its luck, no one gets to the top, and remains there long term.

I'll start an Austin poker room thread.

But for any big city just google card clubs.

I wish they would put a room in at Lone Star Park. I heard awhile back that Winstar had bought the park and talk was they were going to do ooker. I never confirmed it though.
